It was a beautiful day and one of those regular ones wherein you get a lotta traffic on the roads and all the time in the world to listen to your favorite radio stations. The pleasure you get once you reach your destination after crawling slowly through the traffic is splendid. I was waiting on the signal very close to my stop, suddenly I heard a small honk. I looked over to the rear view mirror to give a glace as to check if my vehicle was not one of the reason’s for the honk, which I was sure wasn’t. I saw a long lane of cars behind and in a flip of nano second as you normally would expect one of my kind to notice, my eyes went straight over to the lovely lady in the driving seat of the car behind. A beautiful young blonde with curly hair and a relaxed smile on her face, made me spend some more time looking at the rear view mirror and expecting the signal to go off a little late. She honked again, and immediately I looked over to check why the prominent behavior. Ahh, I understood, she was calling the newpaper guy on the street. The prominent familiar face which I used to see everyday in the morning. Okay, I think I got it, one of those many people who start the day with the newspaper. The newspaper man quickly came over to her car. I managed to keep my gaze on the mirror with the usual purpose of admiration. The signal was about to change, the newpaper man quickly took out a paper and rushed to wards the car window. The girl opened the window and gave the ‘change amount’ before she could take the paper. The man said ‘thank you’ and tried to hand the paper over to the girl but she refused to take it and a gave big smile on her face. It was raining. Well, I noticed, the newspaper man had to struggle to sell the papers out, rushing and finding time in between the signals to find an opportunity to earn. This lady somehow knew it would be a hard day and this was indeed a noble gesture, which left me flabbergasted for a while. I wondered how many of us think about the people who earn just by the edge. Yes, it was ‘coupe de foudre’ , she was smiling and looking wonderful. I cursed the damn signal but had to go, tried to get to look around when I got into my lane but it appeared as though she had taken a different course. Yet, the thought stayed with me and will always will.
