A few words on the festival of lights..

It is not the day but the moments that matter,

It is not the crowd but the people that matter,

It is not the money but the happiness that matters,

It is not the quagmire but the attitude that matters,

It is not the festival but the feeling of togetherness that matters,

Give someone a chance to share the joy & celebrate this diwali with a difference..that matters.

Happy Diwali!

Coupe de foudre

It was a beautiful day and one of those regular ones wherein you get a lotta traffic on the roads and all the time in the world to listen to your favorite radio stations. The pleasure you get once you reach your destination after crawling slowly through the traffic is splendid. I was waiting on the signal very close to my stop, suddenly I heard a small honk. I looked over to the rear view mirror to give a glace as to check if my vehicle was not one of the reason’s for the honk, which I was sure wasn’t. I saw a long lane of cars behind and in a flip of nano second as you normally would expect one of my kind to notice, my eyes went straight over to the lovely lady in the driving seat of the car behind. A beautiful young blonde with curly hair and a relaxed smile on her face, made me spend some more time looking at the rear view mirror and expecting the signal to go off a little late. She honked again, and immediately I looked over to check why the prominent behavior. Ahh, I understood, she was calling the newpaper guy on the street. The prominent familiar face which I used to see everyday in the morning. Okay, I think I got it, one of those many people who start the day with the newspaper. The newspaper man quickly came over to her car. I managed to keep my gaze on the mirror with the usual purpose of admiration. The signal was about to change, the newpaper man quickly took out a paper and rushed to wards the car window. The girl opened the window and gave the ‘change amount’ before she could take the paper. The man said ‘thank you’ and tried to hand the paper over to the girl but she refused to take it and a gave big smile on her face. It was raining. Well, I noticed, the newspaper man had to struggle to sell the papers out, rushing and finding time in between the signals to find an opportunity to earn. This lady somehow knew it would be a hard day and this was indeed a noble gesture, which left me flabbergasted for a while. I wondered how many of us think about the people who earn just by the edge. Yes, it was ‘coupe de foudre’ , she was smiling and looking wonderful. I cursed the damn signal but had to go, tried to get to look around when I got into my lane but it appeared as though she had taken a different course. Yet, the thought stayed with me and will always will.

Humorous Insights

Weekend Horrors

Oh Shit!, Oh No! ..my Good God exclaimed my friend, who by the way is an IT professional and an expert in a niche market. At first thought, it occurred to me that he has had some terrible times coming in, something went very wrong with his work, maybe his job or his family. I suddenly jumped out and asked him - 'Dude, what’s the matter, what went wrong??' to which he replied sighing with the highest of discomfort - 'Dude, weekend's finished and I just remembered, I missed watching this latest english movie, ohh what a waste of weekend' and then I quickly responded ‘Which movie?’ to which he said ‘Ironman 2’ and then with great grief, I sighed too... I think that's what make US different.

Word Talk - A few words in honor of ‘Words’

Please

The word 'Please' was beautifully crafted and chosen to be put in places where the ordinary failed. The common man used to fret to nerves before using this word in the sentence as this would

make the sentence assume an extraordinary level. In today's world, this is a word which needs to rediscover its existence - mostly in the corporate world where is it used in the most mail communication as an uncommon required rule. Sometimes the preposition even laughs at it - 'Please can you... ' and the mail goes on.

Well, moving from the co-corporate world to a more casual world, it appears this word has not had

it enough, in relationships and messaging its used brutally and those who use it do not even give

it the honor of complete introduction e.g.: 'Plz plz plz ...' and it goes on.

Thank You

None the less has somewhat rediscovered its brother being much useful - 'Thanks' to thanks. Indeed so much thanking goes everyday that sometimes a mail without a 'Thanks' would seem like an obvious intruder to the corporate mailing system.

Hi

Hello was the convention and the one born in the English vocabulary but somehow ‘Hi’ crept in and now hello sometimes stresses to find itself as an unfamiliar gesture in the emailing community. Its really amazing as if ‘Hi’ was a secret agent in matrix allowed to creep into any corporate communication without being noticed.

In casual communication ‘Hi’ serves as the known minstrel many a times.

The grand celebration.. !

When we are born, there would be a lot of eyes at us and that moment which is supposed to be so special gets unnoticed by our innocent gestures. This moment is what we then try to capture by celebrating the day we are born and it’s got just two ingredients to make it wonderful, it’s gotta be special and its gotta be perfect. Today I was lucky enough to experience that moment, apart from the fact that it made me remember that this day was my birthday(but that’s a different story, as you get older you tend to forget it more :-) ). Apart from the marvelous get together(one of rare get together’s I had seen in South Africa) and the tingling of time pass gossips in the air, I had a wonderful celebration in one of the top notch eating joints with the joint staff singing ‘Happy Birthday’ song on an ending note. I played the part of being a true Indian by arriving at Indian Standard Time. My friends especially my roomy did an astonishing job of putting it all together to generate that moment.
'Dankie' to all of you, it would have just passed as another day without you!

Words of instant wisdom..

Friends, Indians and Countrymen, lend me your ears.
(No you don’t need to cut them and handover it over to me, just give a little thought to what I am trying to say)
Well, the blog’s hungry for an update to maintain the dynamics,so why not put up some words of instant wisdom
Sitting by seaside and hearing the waves lash against the shore, the thought that comes to my mind is
it ain’t the performance that matters as much as the crowd which comes to applaud,
it ain’t the places visited that matters as much as the people whom you see them with,
it ain’t the silly pranks which matter but the company in which you play those pranks,
it ain’t the humour that matters as much as the group in which you gather it,
it ain’t the knowledge which matters but the masses with which you share it,
it ain’t the life which matters but the moments and the people whom you wanna spend it with,
Sometimes you might get everything in life just to let you know that something is missing,
So friends, indians and countrymen let’s make an effort to ensure that nothing’s missing in our life and we enjoy every bit of it to the fullest!
